Inaugurated in 2017, the SGR Madaraka Express operates at up to 120km/h between Nairobi Terminus and Mombasa Port. The route passes directly through Tsavo National Park — where passengers sometimes spot wildlife from the train windows.

The train is clean, modern and comfortable. First class seats are comparable to European business class rail. Dining and snack services are available on board. It is a genuinely enjoyable African travel experience.
