Fly from Nairobi to the Maasai Mara on a 2-day safari with scenic flights, game drives, wildlife, comfortable accommodation and easy airport transfers.
Short on time but don’t want to leave the Maasai Mara out of your Kenya safari?
Our 2-day Maasai Mara fly-in safari from Nairobi is designed for travelers who want to spend more time watching wildlife and less time traveling by road.
Instead of spending most of a day driving between Nairobi and the Mara, fly from Wilson Airport directly to a Maasai Mara airstrip. From there, your safari continues with game drives in a 4×4 safari vehicle through one of Kenya’s most celebrated wildlife destinations.
Enjoy the convenience of scenic bush flights, comfortable accommodation and carefully planned game drives before flying back to Nairobi the following day.
Less time on the road. More time in the Mara.
Your journey, your way.
A fly-in safari is particularly valuable when your Kenya itinerary is tight.
If your priority is spending more of your short trip in the Maasai Mara, flying is one of the most convenient options.

Your safari begins with a morning transfer from your Nairobi hotel, residence or other agreed pickup location to Wilson Airport.Check in for your scheduled flight to the Maasai Mara. The flight generally takes around 45–60 minutes, although the exact duration depends on the flight routing, airstrip and operating conditions. As you fly southwest, enjoy aerial views of Kenya's changing landscapes before landing at an airstrip serving the Mara ecosystem.Your local safari driver-guide will meet you at the airstrip and begin your Mara adventure.Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy a game drive en route to your camp or lodge, giving you the opportunity to start looking for wildlife almost immediately.Arrive at your accommodation for lunch and some time to settle in.In the afternoon, head out for an extended game drive across the Mara's open grasslands. The afternoon is a good opportunity to search for some of the reserve's famous wildlife, including:Lions Leopards Cheetahs Elephants Buffaloes Giraffes Zebras Wildebeest Hippos in suitable areas Various antelope speciesWith luck, you may witness predators becoming more active as temperatures begin to fall.Return to camp or lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.Dinner and overnight: Selected Maasai Mara camp or lodge.Meal plan: Lunch and dinner.
Wake early for your final Mara experience.Enjoy an early morning game drive, one of the best times to explore the reserve. The cooler temperatures can make wildlife more active, while the softer morning light is excellent for photography.Depending on your flight departure time, you may return to camp for breakfast before transferring to the airstrip.Your flight then departs the Maasai Mara for Wilson Airport in Nairobi.Upon arrival, your driver will meet you and transfer you to your Nairobi hotel, residence or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), depending on your onward travel arrangements.Flight schedules and exact arrival times vary by operator and airstrip, so we recommend allowing sufficient connection time before an international flight.Meal plan: Breakfast and, depending on the flight schedule, lunch may be arranged.
If you’re visiting during the right season, the Great Migration can add another spectacular dimension to your Maasai Mara safari.
The famous movement of wildebeest and other grazing animals between Tanzania’s Serengeti ecosystem and Kenya’s Maasai Mara generally reaches the Mara between July and October, although the timing varies from year to year.
River crossings are particularly unpredictable. Even during peak migration months, there is no guarantee that a crossing will occur during your specific visit.
If the migration is your primary reason for visiting, we recommend allowing additional safari days to increase your chances of experiencing different wildlife areas and seasonal movements.

The road journey from Nairobi to the Maasai Mara can take several hours depending on your route, traffic and road conditions.
For travelers with only two days, a fly-in safari changes the balance of the itinerary.
Instead of spending a large part of your first and final days traveling by road, you can reach the Mara much faster and devote more of your available time to wildlife viewing.

If you’re flying internationally after your safari, we can arrange a transfer from Wilson Airport to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Because domestic safari flights and international flights operate on different schedules, we recommend allowing a comfortable connection window rather than planning a tight same-hour transfer.
If you have an international departure on the same day, provide your flight details when requesting a quote so we can plan the transfer appropriately.

When time is limited, every hour matters.
Our 2-day Maasai Mara fly-in safari from Nairobi allows you to spend less time traveling by road and more time experiencing Kenya’s wildlife.
Fly from Wilson Airport, land in the Mara, head out on game drives and enjoy a night in the heart of the safari country before flying back to Nairobi.
Whether you’re planning a luxury getaway, honeymoon, family holiday, photography trip or short Kenya safari, we’ll tailor the experience around your schedule and preferred level of comfort.
